Jayna @ 8 Months

I'll say it every month for years...where did the time go?? My kid is 2/3 of a year old. Un. Believe. Able.

And what does Miss Jayna do these days? Well...

  • She can say "bobble" and "mama." Yay!! She constantly says "mamamamamama" and it normally means she wants food. Go figure.
  • She tries very hard to hold her own bottle. She just can't figure out to tip it up to get the liquid out. She has the same tipping problem with her sippy cup. But we're working on it.
  • She eats Gerber puffs like it's the only thing we ever feed her. She loves those things, especially now that she has the pincer grasp (thumb and first finger) figured out. She can eat a handful of those things in a matter of seconds. I'm actually quite fond of the puffs too.
  • She is attempting to crawl. She can get up on her hands. She can get up on her knees. But not at the same time. She can get up on her hands and feet, but the knees seem to confuse her. She's slowly figuring it out. She does a fine job of army crawling and scooting around on her butt.
  • She LOVES the bath. She sits up in there by herself and plays and lets me pour water over her head and everything. She loves her bath toys more than her regular toys. When I go to start her bath, she hears the water and knows what is going on. I think she'd live in there if I'd let her. Her cute little toes look so funny when they're all pruney.
  • She can find her sucky in the middle of the night and put it in her mouth without help. I'm not sure if this is good or bad...
  • She gives kisses. It's sooo darn cute!! Yesterday when I got her out of her crib, she grabbed my face with both hands, said "mama" and closed her eyes halfway and opened her mouth to kiss me. Cute.
  • She waves bye-bye. Not everytime, but she does it. Mostly to people she doesn't know...like the grocery store lady and Anthony's bus driver.
  • She babbles and screams NONSTOP!! The kid is so loud that sometimes Morgan hides in the bedroom. Funny.
  • She knows what object permanence is. I used to be able to hide the TV remote from her and that would be the end of it. Now she goes looking for it. While I love that she's learned this, it's been a struggle to get her to focus on things like taking a bottle and getting her diaper changed.
  • She has a slight fear of strangers that mostly presents itself when she is over-tired. She freaked out a couple of weeks ago when I took her to a baby shower. There were only 8 or 9 people there, but she didn't like being around strangers at all!
  • She is dealing with a little separation anxiety. There are days that she cries EVERYTIME I leave her sight. She also has this with Chris and Summer. She just doesn't like to be left alone on somedays. On other days I think she'd play in her room alone for as long as I left her there.
  • She inspects all her toys. She touches every little part very specifically and then turns the toy over and inspects the bottom and touches all the screws, battery covers, bumpy words, everything. It's hilarious to watch her do this and wonder what the hell she's thinking.
  • She STILL loves Wheel of Fortune. Weird.
  • She tries to "get" the dogs. If they're lying close to her and aren't paying attention, she'll scoot/crawl over and get their legs and tails and sometimes their faces. She loves them and tries to give Ollie kisses. She also loves when Morgan kisses her.

I'm sure that I've missed something, but this is a pretty exhaustive list for all the funny little things she does. I'll post some updated pics of her soon!!

cute post! Jayna seem's SO SWEET And ADORABLE!!! I am so happy for you guys!

The puff's part is SO funny! Puff's are WONDERFUL and I want to personally THANK and kiss the person who invented them:)!!!

Peyton too couldn't coordinate the front and the back to crawl, but instead she started to take her fist steps around 9 months and walked really well by 11 months!!!

Peyton also LOVES wheel of fortune and Jeopardy!! Too funny! I think our girls would be fast friends:)!!!
