A Loooooong Week

Boy, has it been one. Jayna is better. I took her to the doc on Monday and she had to have one more round of shots. I then scheduled her a recheck appointment for Friday at the doc's request. Well, yesterday she began pulling at her ears and sticking her fingers in her ears and not finishing her bottles. So I took her yesterday. Her ears are healed...no infection. She has a small amount of fluid in there and it is draining. That is probably causing her ears to tickle and feel funny. Hence the pulling and fingers.

About 2 weeks ago, I felt that she was getting one of her top teeth in. I thought it was the one next to her left front tooth (the left lateral incisor for all of you teeth people...Michelle K.), but Chris assured me that I was just feeling the left edge of her left front tooth. I couldn't really tell at that time, so I didn't argue with him. Well, last Friday she FINALLY let me take a closer look as I was brushing her teeth. It WAS the left lateral incisor!! That tooth is all the way through!! I felt around some more and learned that her left central incisor and her right lateral incisor are also poking through...and her gums are all swollen and red where her right cnetral incisor is about to come through!!! MY KID IS GETTING 4 TEETH AT ONCE!!! No wonder she's crabby and her ears hurt and stuff!! I guess atleast she's getting it over with more quickly.

I asked the nurse practitioner yesterday if her teeth could be causing her ear issues. She told me that of course cutting teeth can't cause an ear infection, but it can cause an enormous amount of pressure...which hurts. Her teeth could also be causing her frequent dirty diapers, as she is swallowing about 10 times the amount of saliva that anyone should really have.

In other news, I'm so very glad it's the weekend. It's been a long week, as I said above, and it's a very good thing that I have the Jayners to provide me with smiles throughout the grueling workdays. Wednesday morning before work, I sat Jayna in the middle of the living room floor so that I could start the car and make my bagel. The dogs were both asleep on the couch and chair. I went outside to the car for less than one minute. I came in to find Morgan on the floor with his head in Jayna's lap. He was just lying there with his tail wagging like crazy while she played the bongos on his face!! It really was the cutest thing, but I couldn't get to the camera in time. He loves her. If she's on the floor, he's lying close by making sure she's safe. They've become the best of friends over the past few weeks. This makes me happy.
