If there is one thing that can be said about my kid it's that she absolutely, without a doubt, LOVES the outdoors. If it is raining and gray and icky, she's cranky and mad. I took her out yesterday in the rain and she didn't really care for it. It's going to be a loooooong winter.
She does so many new things a day that I seriously can't keep up with her. I'll try and hit some of the highlights:
- She walks like a pro. She's even begun trying to run. And she is now stepping over and around things instead of just falling down or over them. She's really perfecting her fine motor skills.
- She knows the ASL sign for "more" and knows what it means and when to do it.
- She is consistently drinking 3 to 5 oz. of milk out of a sippy cup. And we're down to just a nighttime bottle.
- She understands more words than I can even list. She knows what it means to "take off" something. She knows where to go to take a bath and that she has to be naked. She knows what it means to go night night in her bedroom. She knows what it means to go somewhere in the car and that it requires shoes and sometimes a jacket (and of course her HAT). She knows the rooms of the house and which ones to stay out of even though she still goes into them. She knows what turning off the light is and knows how to do it. She knows that if she isn't in her high chair and she wants bites that she must sit on her bottom. She knows what books and reading are. She knows that if she picks up something that isn't hers that she should bring it to mommy or daddy. She knows what a pillow is and what it's for. It's truly amazing how much she's learned in the past 5 weeks. Some of those things she sort of knew before, but she's perfected them now.
- Words she understands are book, Elmo, Sesame Street, Cookie Monster, wash, eat, bites, dinner, lunch, raisin, Cheerio, outside, shoes, jacket, shirt, dog, picture and car. There are so many more and too many to list.
- New words she can say include book, bus, Elmo, more and Cookie (as in Cookie Monster) and pop (for grandpa).
- She has more teeth than she'll let me count. Four molars have definitely broken skin as well as one canine tooth. She gets teeth in clusters...and I can't decide if it's better or worse than one at a time.
- She goes nowhere without her hat.
- She can brush her teeth and her hair.
- She loves to wallow in soft blankets. She will lie on the floor in the living room with blankets all around her for hours.
- She likes to be chased. She will walk away from me and then stop and look back to make sure I'm coming behind her and then run away. Funny stuff.
- She loves to look at pictures and will point out people and dogs she knows when you ask her.
- She loves other kids and tries to poke them in the eyes...but in a lovable way. :)
- She is just the sweetest, cutest, most lovable kid on the planet.
If that picture up there doesn't make you smile then you just don't know how.
This is Jayna's element...the back yard. She loves to be out there with her dogs and just pick up leaves and walk around.
Time is flying by. And she's learning and growing so quickly...

She IS so cute!! Now that she's successfully past infant, don't you wish you could have come from the future and told your earlier self not to worry about breastfeeding and stuff like that because it would all work out?? If only...
