January 16

Today was sort of a big day for me.

It wasn't a big day because I went to the dentist. Actually, I am by no means intimidated, frightened, anxious about the dentist (except the daggone bill!). Growing up, I always went to the dentist twice a year for cleanings and also when I had other dental issues. I had a spacer when I was in elementary school. I had my wisdom teeth cut out at 21. I've had cavities filled, a tooth tested for nerve damage...I'm familiar with the dentist.

Today was a big day because I finally got my one embarrassing dental thing taken care of. When I was in college and mid-twenties, I didn't have insurance. It was then that one of my fillings in a molar broke. I got it fixed about a year later by a friend who is now a very successful dentist in Colorado. She did an EXCELLENT job...but because of my financial situation, she had to make it a giant silver filling. And I've been embarrassed about it ever since. I was told that it wouldn't last forever and would eventually need to be crowned. I just didn't have the resources back then.

Well today I got rid of that one giant silver filling. It cost me a dang fortune, but it's now crowned (temporarily for now) and the same color as the rest of my teeth!

Yay for a little self esteem boost!!
