ToT: Take Me Out To The Ballgame

TOPIC:
Do you like sports? Spectator style or playing them? What are your favorites and what are some/one that you just don't understand?

(Sorry for the wonkiness of the spacing and text.  Blogger HATES me today.)

This seems like a post that will be better with half words, half pictures.  So that's what's going to happen.

We LOVE sports in our household.  Unfortunately, we do more watching than playing, but we still try and be active with sports in the warmer months.

We are, of course, loyal to our Indianapolis Colts.  We love to watch them even now that Peyton is gone.  So many great things come along with football season:  fantasy leagues, cooler weather from the unbearable summer, chili, pumpkins, etc.  I had the privilege of attending my very first Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium last year with fellow ToTer Michelle over at After 9 and Some Weekends.  We had fun even though we couldn't stay the whole time.  Lucas Oil is an outstanding Stadium!!  I hope to make it back this year and maybe take Chris with me!

Our house is Boston strong!!  We've been Boston Red Sox fans for the better of 15 years.  We watch them when we can and are planning within the next couple of years to go to Boston and catch a game at Fenway Park.  It would truly be a dream come true for me!  I love baseball for so many reasons:  the history, the strategy, the slow pace.  It is very much a game of wits and that's what makes it so very great to me.  Just a couple of days ago, Chris and I went to see the Pawtucket Red Sox (the minor team for the Boston Red Sox) beat our own Indianapolis Indians!  It was a nice birthday present.  We got to see Jeremy Hazelbaker up close...he's going to be a star!  We are usually Indians fans, but not when Pawtucket is in town!

Football and Baseball are definitely our 2 biggest spectator sports.  We aren't big into basketball or golf.  We love to play those sports, but rarely watch them on television.  We also like to play football and baseball, kickball, we all like to swim (Chris was a diver in high school), Jayna LOVED tumbling, and Chris and I still enjoy running even though we don't get to do it nearly enough.  Chris likes to play softball and got to go sub in a few games just last night.  He said he's pretty rusty, but I'm sure he enjoyed it.

We are currently teaching Jayna how to catch and throw a baseball.  She got her first mitt last weekend and she is slowly learning.  She is also learning to play kickball.  That's pretty funny!!  With all the boys in the neighborhood, I'm sure she'll start picking up on more and more sports as she gets older.  She sure does love to watch them, especially baseball!!  The kid is more patient than me at the ballpark.  She has made it through the entire game of every baseball game she's attended.  More than I can say for myself.  She also likes to watch football with her daddy.

Wednesday's Indians v. Red Sox game.  Fun times!!

Playing kickball in the street...Ms. Kim is the pitcher!

Treadmill running...LOVE it.

Bowling.  Jayna likes to bowl and I bowled on leagues when I was younger.  Not so much now...I've lost all knowledge of how to play!!

Tumbling!  Fun stuff!

The Indianapolis Colts game I went to with Michelle.

Yay!!  The Colts!!

Holding one of Big Papi's bats at the Louisville Slugger Museum.  I'd died and gone to heaven. :)

Races in the backyard.  Ollie always wins.

Watching the Indians.  She's a trooper.

Jayna and Brady at swimming lessons.  Jayna LOVES to swim.
