ToT: Zen Is In

TOPIC:
A daily ritual that keeps you sane? Like my husband has to make his coffee every day and it's his zen thing, what is yours?

I'm sure most of you have all sorts of awesome and interesting daily rituals.  Mine, on the other hand, is sort of silly.

It isn't elaborate.  It isn't fancy.  It isn't long and drawn out.  It's simple and it makes my day complete.

It took me literally WEEKS to determine what it was.

Every weekday, I leave work around the same time and head home.  Some days I have minor errands to run.  Some days I get to go straight to the zen place.

When I drive up in the parking lot at Jayna's school and I see her sweet face waiting to hug me, I am in my zen place.  The door opens and she yells, "MOMMY!"  and she hugs my legs.  And then I hug her back.

I don't know if it's because she's always so happy to see me or if it's because I'm glad to see her face and know that she's okay.  But there's something in that moment that makes me...peaceful.

And then she asks if she can stay and play longer and I say no because we have things to do and then she throws a fit and zen is out the window.  :)

On the weekends, Jayna gives me a morning hug each morning.  She squeezes really tight and says, "There's your morning hug, mommy!"  As if to say, "Okay, we can officially start the day now."

I just love that kid.  She makes me think that somehow, some way, the world will be okay.  I see hope when I look into her eyes.  And that makes me happy.
