Happy Father's Day!!!

Heart warming Father's Day Story:

When we returned home from the zoo yesterday, I told Jayna that she should sign her card to Chris since he was gone to the store.  I gave her the card and a pen and went to finish some laundry.  After all, she's 4.5 going on 16 and can handle signing a card without my help.  Just ask her, she'll tell you.

She spent a great deal of time signing and writing in the card.  She brought it upstairs to show me.  She was so very proud of herself for doing it all by herself!!  I read it and realized that she had written "Happy Birthday, Daddy."  I made a small mention of it and how he will love it.

I had to open my giant mouth.

At that time, she realized she'd written "Happy Birthday" instead of "Happy Father's Day."

She tried sooooo hard to keep it together.  She said, "Ahhh!!!  Oh mommy...I just don't know what I'm writing today.  I should've taken a rest when I got home.  I'm too tired to know what to write...."

And then the tears came.  They flowed like a river.  The kid hates to mess up.

So what did I do?  I did what any normal, loving, heartbroken, big-mouthed mom would do:  I put her in the car, we drove to Meijer and we bought a new card.

She swore me to secrecy.  "Don't tell daddy I messed up."  And she hid the card behind the music stand on the piano.

It only took her 3 days to fess up to Chris.  He told her, "Well, I still would've loved it, but now you can just save it for my birthday."  He's such a good daddy.

She got him 2 polo shirts, 2 camping chairs and a pair of superhero PJ pants.  He loved it all.  Now we ALL have PJs with Batman on them. :)
