No, for realz.
She's been obsessively chasing shadows and lights for the past 2 weeks. I did some research on this phenomenon and it seems that either she has some sort of insecurity (um...yeah! She's been neglected and abused in the past and then lived 3 months in a rescue and has only lived with us for a month! I'd say she's a little insecure!) and/or she is trying to keep her mind busy because she's bored.
Either way, the behavior is mentally unhealthy for her. She won't even sleep on some nights because she can't quiet her mind. Bad news for not only her, but bad news for ME who has to get up 75 times a night to return her to her pillow!! I bought 2 of these very flexible treat balls (one pink for Angel and one blue for Ollie...and very flexible to hopefully keep her from destroying them) to fill with things she can work to get out of there as a reward. Cross your fingers for us!!
Edited to add: The blue one lasted 4.5 hours. I've hidden the pink one for her to find at a later date. For now we're playing extra hard outside to tire her out a little more and playing lots of tug with the rope when we're inside. This dog has more energy than any other 7 year old dog I've EVER known.
