So, for posterity...
December was a huge month. Obviously, there was Christmas. At 4 places. Then there was Chris' birthday...which gets it's very own post. Then there was our visit to The Children's Museum. And then the Eiteljorg Museum. And...my point is that there is NO WAY I could limit this to 6 pictures. No. Way.
I'm unsure of what I've blogged about and what I haven't, so bear with me. I haven't the patience to go searching through my archives right now.
At the beginning of December, a commercial on PBS for The Children's Museum caught Jayna's attention. All because of what they call the Yule Slide. If you are unfamiliar, the Yule Slide is a big giant slide that stretches from the second floor down to the first floor of our Children's Museum. She asked me every dang day for almost 3 weeks if we could go to the Museum and go on the Yule Slide. I commissioned our friends Layla, Laura and Lee to go with us so that Jayna would have another little girl to hang out with. We all had tons of fun.

The dads and the girls waiting in line to go on the beloved Yule Slide.
The dads and the girls coming down the slide. They ALL (dads included) immediately wanted to go again.
Christmas around our parts is busy. My dad's side of the family decided to do family Christmas a few days before Christmas. Jayna had fun visiting with people she doesn't get to see often. And she liked her books and train set too!!
Christmas with the Mathis family. That seemingly grown up girl to the right of Jayna is ShiAnn. I remember when Shi was BORN and now she is in HIGH SCHOOL. Whatever. I'm not old. Jayna took right to her.
Chris and I have taken the great honor of hosting Christmas Eve at our house. We like it that way because we don't have to cart around the child...and we can have a few more than 2 drinks. We do appetizer foods and gingerbread house decorating. We always have lots of fun.
Christmas Eve at my house. Christmas Eve wouldn't be complete without Dos Equis Ambar and an injury. A couple nights earlier while making cupcakes, I got my finger caught in the electric mixer. I mean...I as fighting a bear. And you should see the bear. He's lucky to still be alive. :)
Making gingerbread houses is a tradition we started many years ago. Like...ONE year ago. We all had so much fun doing it, but this year wasn't as easy. The icing wouldn't set up which made for a rough go. Jayna had that icing ALL OVER the place...including herself.
Fun times. LOTS of candy. And even more frustration.
The loser. This started out as my mom's. She gave up because the icing wouldn't work. My brother and I took over and turned it into a rocketship that was being attacked by a green alien gumdrop dude. We're creative like that.
The winner. This was Roger's. He didn't have any difficulty at all. I don't know what he did to his icing, but it worked while the rest of us were cussing at it.
Getting cookies and milk for Santa. Oh, and carrots for the reindeer. Don't forget the dang carrots.
Christmas morning was soooo fun this year!! Jayna was so excited that Santa brought her all sorts of cool presents. Her favorite was definitely her dollhouse. She loves it. After gifts at our house, we went to Nana M's and then on to Nana B's.
OOOHHHH!!! A giant dollhouse!!

Moe hanging out on Christmas evening. One of the last photos of him.
Chris' brother, Steve, and his wife, Aimee, are expecting their first child, a little girl, in July. They told us by sending Jayna a gift that was a shirt. It says, "I'm going to be a big cousin!" So cute!!
Jayna received this special gift on Christmas Eve. She is going to have a cousin!!! Congrats, Steve and Aimee!!!
Jayna loves trains. She has a train set and loves cartoons about trains (but, interestingly enough, she hates Thomas the Train). The Eiteljorg Museum had a really cool exhibit called Jingle Rails. All sorts of trains were in the exhibit along with many different scenarios (Mount Rushmore, City of Indianapolis, Grand Canyon) all made out of natural materials. I think I loved it more than she did. The Eiteljorg has a children's area now too. Jayna really enjoyed playing in the stage coach and trying on the pretty dresses.
At the Eiteljorg Museum. Jayna looooooves dresses and these were not an exception to that rule. Spanish dancing dresses.
Union Station in the Jingle Rails Exhibit. This exhibit was worth the money and the enormous line. So awesome.
Family photo in a stage coach at the Eiteljorg. Pretty cool.
What did y'all do in December?

The theme of our December was 'Sick & Crazy'. Fresh off his Japan trip Mark spent the entire month of Deceber and into early January sick and going to see the doctor fairly often. At some point I was SURE that he had picked up the Asian Bird Flu, or SARS, or something else equally as awful during his Japan trip. I also pondered the notion that the Pneumonia he had last spring had reared it's ugly head again. A little scary because nothing seemed to help. And, oh yeah, Eli was sick with doggy stomach flu the entire week Mark was in Japan. Before Mark went to Japan, we met and subsequently decided to adopt Austin. I completed the adoption process so everything would be rready for us to pick him up the afternoon the day after Mark got home. And so began the crazy. Puppy energy. Puppy potty-training. Potty accidents in the house. Eli adjusting to another dog. Things getting eaten. Things getting chewed on. And so on, you get the idea. Then there were the holidays. Family, shopping, gifts, and travel pretty much sums it up. We ended the year with a quaint evening at our house with just a few people and a day or two off work. That's pretty much it. And you probably intended to end your blog with a rhetorical question! This is what happens when monthly reporting isvover and I have a little more time on my hands!
