Politics: Read At Your Own Risk

On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, history was made. If I need to tell you why, stop reading my blog and go read this guy's blog, because you may or may not be part of the crowd he's dissing. The blog post that I've linked has been a hot topic for many of the bloggers that I follow. I just hang my head and feel ashamed that he's breathing the precious air that the rest of us breathe. I don't think he's ignorant for voicing his opinion. I LOVE opinions. Especially when they aren't the same as mine. I think he's ignorant for insulting, like, half the nation. Ignorance at it's best. I do love a good insult, though.

I don't care who you voted for. I know who I voted for (yes, I voted for the first time in 2008) and I can sleep at night. I know that what President Bush was doing was not working. I do not know that what President Obama will do will definitely work. What I DO know is that our country was ready for a change...and I'm not going all "Vote for Change," "Hope for Change" crazy on your asses, I'm just saying...things weren't going well and it was time to try something new.

Running a country must be hard work. I know that we all think we have all the answers. Apparently some of us think that more than others. I know some people who know exactly how to govern countries and know what needs to be done to balance the federal budget and fight terrorism and save the polar bears and everything, but they are never the ones who want to actually go run for office...not just presidential...ANY political office where know-how would be greatly appreciated. Unless your "know-how" is actually just "talking out your ass."

The "idiot college kids" that Mr. Lottery Winner from the above link refers to are the future. I, too, am guilty of cursing the rude ass teenager who refuses to act like a civilized human in the presence of my 5-month-old baby. But then I remember what it was like to be a teenager...how I acted when I was a teenager...and then I remember that I turned out to be a fairly decent adult. If anything, we must have faith that the younger generation will eventually cut their hair, pull up their pants, put ON some pants and grow up.

If you have all of the answers, please enlighten the rest of us. If not, please have a little faith. Not in God or Allah or whatever...I mean faith in humanity. Faith in those youngsters who are the future. Faith that President Obama can succeed in a nation where so many welcome his demise.
