New Word Wednesday: Utensils

We took Jayna out to dinner with us who even knows how long ago (atleast a month ago, probably longer) and I gave her a spoon to eat her mashed potatoes.  She looked at it funny because it wasn't a plastic Gerber spoon like hers at home.  I caught her examining it and I told her, "It's a big girl spoon!!  You're a big girl now!"  She used it and time marched on.

About 2 or 3 weeks ago, we were eating breakfast.  She decided she wanted Special K with raisins in it.  I got her cereal and gave her a little Gerber spoon to eat it.  She ate a few bites then looked at me and said, "Mommy, gorl boon."

It took her repeating herself approximately 19.4 times and me listening very VERY closely to determine that she was saying "big girl spoon."  She had become quite frustrated by this time and had begun to fuss...with real tears.  I said, "OH!!!  You want a big girl spoon??"  And through the tears I saw a smile and heard a triumphant "Yeah, mommy!! Yeah!  Gorl boon!"

I seriously need a translator.
