So, "E" words are hard, y'all. I wanted to use words that were actually meaningful in my life. As it turns out, there are MANY meaningful "E's" in my life. I just had to search for them (and take suggestions from you!).
Education
I am a big fan of education. I love to learn new things and expand on what I already know. I loved school (except for maybe high school, but that's an entirely different issue) and I loved college even more. I love to do extensive amounts of research on things that I'll never need to know just for the sake of learning (i.e. methamphetamine addiction, kosher food and scientology). I am very proud of the knowledge I've gained through all sorts of education including organized and less-than-organized...and I'm happy to share it with anyone willing to listen. :)
Eavesdrop
I am guilty. I do it. At restaurants, shopping malls and waiting rooms. It is especially fun now that people think that no one is listening when they have a cell phone conversation in the middle of the grocery store. I just can't help myself. And most people do NOTHING to make their conversations private, what with the loud talking and crazy gestures. I love to hear one part of a converstation and then make up a story of why the person was having that conversation. The comedian Lewis Black has a bit about eavesdropping that includes him listening to a woman at an IHOP. She says, "If it weren't for my horse, I'd never have made it through that last year of college." Everytime I eavesdrop, I think of that. Funny.
Eastside
Even though I lived pretty far away, I grew up on the Eastside. I was on the edge of my school district and lived about 20 minutes away from my high school, but I still hung out in the general area of where I went to high school. Washington Square Mall...back when Montgomery Ward was there...Target next to Show Biz and Flakey Jake's were a few of the places I frequented as a kid and eventually as a teenager. Socially, I had a rough time in high school. I had lots of friends and was involved in lots of stuff, but I still had a tough time. High school is hard and teenagers are mean...and this has affected the way I feel about the Eastside. I don't like it. I don't like going there. I don't even really like talking about it. Yuck.
Edit
I can't write anything without atleast a quick edit. I don't like to make mistakes and I am sort of a perfectionist in this area. Why didn't I list this under perfectionist? Well, because I'm not a perfectionist with everything. I had some strict English/Language Arts teachers growing up and I just don't like to make grammar and spelling mistakes. I edit everything I write, even the grocery list. And I still can't bring myself to condense words to send a text. This often results in me sending two texts, but I just can't do it!! I feel like I MUST type out every word. I know. Weird.
Elmo
I used to despise Elmo. He was annoying and his face was on everything from backpacks to bandaids. I couldn't go anywhere without seeing his big red face. I also couldn't stand the way he always talked in third person..."Elmo is so happy to see you!!" But now I have a child. Who ironically LOVES Elmo. And he's growing on me. He's actually pretty funny. I watch him everyday and I even find myself reading in his little voice when I read Jayna's Elmo books. I want to buy the new Elmo Live toy for ME, not for her. He is great entertainment for my little one, so I suppose I just have to like him!

Me: The Abridged Version, D
(Note: I am fully aware that I left my own name, Danielle, off of this "D" list).
This is getting harder now. Or maybe I'm just lazy. Oooh, lazy. A good "L" word.
Dude
I say this word entirely too often. I have never been a surfer. I am not a stoner. And yet I still say this word atleast 10 times a day. As in, "Dude, I forgot I need to pay some bills!" I've even been caught calling my little girl Jayna this (see also "Jayna"). It's ridiculous and probably makes me sound slightly uneducated...or stoned. Dude, what can I say?
Diet
I've never been good at dieting. It's the one thing in which I have little willpower. I'm not sure why, but I suspect it has something to do with me loving beer so much (see also "beer"). I did the Special K diet and did very well for about 3 months. It did help, but I became tired of eating cereal and went back to eating junk. Maybe someday I'll find the balance between food and diet and exercise (see also "exercise"). Yeah, who am I kidding??
Dog
I can't imagine my life without a dog in it. Or two dogs. Or ten dogs. I love dogs to such an extreme extent that I want to adopt every stray dog I meet. The dog that I call my first dog (although there was one before him when I was young that my parents gave away because my brother and I fought over him too much) is Captain Morgan (see also "Moe"). Morgan is a shepard/lab mix and is now 9 years old and as playful as the day we got him. I love that dog like he's my child and would do just about anything for him. Maxx was our second dog who was the exact opposite of Moe but just as lovable (see also "Maxx"). Maxx passed away and then there was Oliver (see also "Ollie"). Oliver has a personality all his own, but we love him just the same. I can't go into a shelter and come out without a dog. It's just not me. I am known to rescue dogs and then disperse them among my friends. This has backfired more than once and now my friends are stuck with dogs they love but who have, in some cases, serious behavioral problems. Oops. Sorry, guys. But aren't they just so cute?!?
Devil's Advocate
From time to time, I play the devil's advocate in arguments. Okay, okay. I do it almost everytime. But I love the fact that I can see two sides to every story. Although it does get in the way of my decision-making now and again (see also "decision"). Like that time Chris told me that we didn't need a Trailblazer and I said we did and named a handful of reasons. And now we have a Trailblazer that I love but could've paid WAY less for had I waited and not argued so much (see also "shiny red apple syndrome").
Decision
I can't make a decision to save my life. I am hardcore about doing research on everything I buy and everything I do. I have always been an advocate of "knowledge is power" (see also "knowledge"). But an exhorbitant amount of knowledge can severely cloud judgment! I usually do hours of research on any given thing, but when it comes to the final decision I just wing it anyway. I suppose this is another one of my flaws...
Distraction
Picture it...I am at home and I have exactly two hours (Jayna's nap duration) to get 7 or 8 things done. Within those 7 or 8 things are some important chores, namely laundry and dishes, but first I need to eat a quick lunch. I get my lunch and sit down on the couch to eat it and immediately get sucked in to one of the various television shows I've been sucked into at one point or another. And nothing gets done. No dishes done. No laundry folded. Before I had Jayna, I once spent an ENTIRE Sunday watching a Rollergirls marathon. The entire day. And while that show is riveting and all, the fact that I spent the whole say watching it is just embarrassing. I got up to go to the bathroom and to get food (see also "lazy"). Oh look...a shiny penny...

Me: The Abridged Version, C
And here we are at the letter C. I skipped writing yesterday because I could only think of one "C" word. Now I've thought a little harder (it DID hurt) and I've come up with some others.
Chris
I don't even know where to start. He's the apple of my eye. The Abbott to my Costello. The peas to my carrots. He's the love of my life and my bestest friend. I'd be in a very different place in my life (and much less happy) if he weren't in it. I can count on him to help me through rough times, to cry with me when I am sad and to laugh with (and sometimes at) me when I'm happy. He never tells me what I want to hear; rather he tells me what I need to hear. He makes me talk when I don't want to and doesn't allow me to bottle up my feelings. He will not spoonfeed me answers; rather he makes me work through the problem with his help along the way. He is a wonderful father to Jayna and and just an all-around fantabulous partner in crime. I heart him.
College
I love college. You will notice that I put that last sentence in the present tense. If not for the real world, I'dprobably still be in college. I learned so much in my 6.5 years of college, inside and outside the classroom. I learned who I really was and what was really important in life. I made some lifelong friends and probably some lifelong enemies...but who's counting? I will always feel at home at IU and hope to live in Bloomington again one day.
Camera
I keep my camera in my purse and I use it almost everyday. I love having memories frozen in time, especially now that Jayna is around. I love how a photograph can take you back to a moment as if it happened yesterday. Pictures help me remember the past and document the future. My camera is an essential item in my everyday life.
Count
I have some quirks ("No, you? Really? We didn't know! You hide it so well!"). One of those quirks includes counting things. Some call it OCD, some call it a defense mechanism. I call it a quirk. I count stairs and ceiling tiles and lines on the floor and cars and...and...and. I am weird. Enough said.
CleverTruth
CleverTruth was the name of Chris' band in college. I was with the band ALL the time and eventually knew every word to every song and knew when any member missed any note at any gig. I filmed and photographed and even fixed broken instruments during shows. I learned alot about music and alot about drinking and even more about musicians.
Charlie
I obtained this nickname somewhere along the way from my mom. She also calls me Charliegoose. My stepdad calls me Chuck sometimes. She has called me Charlie for as long as I can remember. Other people have begun calling me Charlie now and I have to say that I really don't mind. It's just become a fiber of my being.
Cookie
I adore cookies. Always have. Always will. I don't even have a favorite cookie because they're all my favorites!! I love warm cookies straight out of the oven, but they MUST NOT have raisins in them. I am also known to eat cookies while drinking beer. They seem to be the perfect pair in my messed up mind.
Confidence
For the better part of my life I've had a great deal of confidence. I was a part of several groups and teams in high school, I have excelled at every job I've ever had and have always appreciated my appearance. The past year has been difficult for me in this area, but I'm battling to find my -ness again (google You, Me and Dupree for an explanation...oh, wait. I just did it for you! And I know that article is about teenager health, but I think it applies to everyday life for every human being). I have never had a problem with going first at anything and I like to try new things, but I also know what I am and am not good at...and I simply do not do something if I know I am not good at it (see also "Pool").
ETA:
Corner Gas
The Canadian sitcom Corner Gas is my favorite sitcom of all time. It even surpasses Scrubs (see also "Scrubs"). It is light and funny and just brilliant. Brent Butt is a fantastic writer and comedian. My fantasy football team is even named after this show and I am known to quote it almost once per day. If you haven't seen it, do so now. I'll wait....

Me: The Abridged Version, B
Onward and upward to letter "B." Here goes:
Bloomington
Oh, sweet sweet Bloomington. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. A good portion of my most important formative years were spent in this city and my heart will forever be fond of it. I went to college there for 5.5 years. I got engaged and married while I lived there. I (sort of) met the love of my life there (see also "Chris"). I made some great friends there although most of them have since moved away as I have. I would do anything to go back and live there, but some very important and needful things keep me away. My favorite beverage, Upland Wheat Ale, is brewed there (see also "Beer"). My favorite bar, Yogi's, is there (see also, Yogi's). Pretty much my favorite everything is there. Bloomington will always remind me of a simpler, yet very difficult time in my life. Less responsibility but also less money and less "stuff." It was there that I develeoped a love of beer, nature, learning (institutional and otherwise) and the simple things in life. I just love it.
Beer
Most of my "B" words derive from Bloomington. I became a beer snob while living there. I had a high disposable income and a great deal of it was spent on alcohol...namely, beer. I learned that wheat beer is my favorite and that it's decently priced when you live in the city in which it's brewed. I developed a love for Hoegaarden (which I later learned is brewed by Anheuser-Busch) and my liver and pocket book are surely still affected by it. I also drank (still drink) alot of Corona, Fat Tire, Hacker Pschorr and Red Hook. Beer has been my best friend and my worst enemy, but mostly my best friend. :)
Baseball
I also developed my love of baseball while living in Bloomington. Chris and I began watching baseball in 2001, as soon as we were legal to get into bars. Yogi's (if you couldn't tell by the name) was a baseball-themed bar at the time and we began watching the Boston Red Sox (see also "Red Sox"). I became engrossed in learning the rules and strategy of the game and began to form my own love for the Sox. Bill Mueller was my first baseball love and I've since transferred that love to another third baseman, Mike Lowell. I love watching the game and love the strategy that goes into playing it. Oh, and I love that baseball games have no time limits. Two hours or five hours...very unpredictable.
Blog
I love to write. I especially love to write for an audience...and even though there are only about four of you, you are still my audience! I also have always enjoyed keeping a journal and writing about feelings and that kind of junk. Blogging is truly an essential outlet for me. Blogging began as a hobby, but it's become a necessity for me. How else would I keep track of my oh-so-busy life?!? I love sharing my point of view, my stories and my pictures with all of you and I hope you enjoy it too!!

Me: The Abridged Version, A
Like me, my mom is an avid scrapbooker. She is the kind of scrapper who likes to have instruction...I think mostly because it forces her to do things. She takes online classes and participates in free projects at our local scrap store. I think I should take a lesson from her.
She is currently taking an online scrapbooking class at Big Picture Scrapbooking called Me: The Abridged Version in which she scrapbooks an entire book formed from tidbits about her life in the format of an encyclopedia. Fun, huh? And while I'm not sure that this info will ever make it into scrapbook form, I thought it would be fun to do this...just a little at a time.
Today we'll start with the letter "A." What can I file under "A?"
Assface
I say this word alot. Mostly I am referring to people I don't know. Probably someone who is driving like an assface or someone in front of me at the grocery store who is taking waaayyyy too long with writing a check and then arguing the price of everything. Oh, and I call my brother that too (see also "Anthony").
Anthony
Anthony is the name of my brother and my brother's child, my nephew. And the two appropriately have the same name as they are identical in attitude and character. That isn't always a bad thing, but I definitely see a little version of my brother in my nephew. Both are very dear to me even though they both have a tendency to drive me batty.
August
August is one of my favorite months. Although Fall or Autumn is my favorite season, I associate August with the return to school...and college later in life. When I was younger, back to school time was always my favorite time of year. This was especially true in college when I got to go away from home and abuse my new-found freedom (see also "College"). I also now associate August with the birth of my baby girl, Jayna who was born on August 21, 2008 (see also "Jayna").
Argue
I am known for my argumentative nature. I will even argue from a point of view that I don't necessarily agree with. Call it devil's advocate if you will, but I prefer the term "forcing one to see that there are two sides to every story." My arguments are always (err, almost always) good natured and are usually meant to help someone understand the other side of things. It should also be said that in high school, I was on the Debate Team all four years and was captain for three. I have a plethora of ribbons, most first and second place and I kick myself daily for not pursuing this after high school.
Accident
I am one of the most accident-prone people I know. I could hurt myself in a straight jacket in a padded room. I am forever bruising up my legs from running into things or stubbing toes on furniture legs. I seem to be getting better about this, but we'll see. Luckily (knock on wood), i haven't broken that many bones and I don't have a wide array of scars.
Artistic
I love art of all kinds. I like to draw, paint, write, scrapbook, etc. I don't think there is a single craft that I haven't dabbled in. My strong suits are my scrapbooking and my writing. Some people think I am a good painter, but I just think I'm average. Kids think I'm an awesome drawer, but again, just average in my mind. I have even illustrated a children's book called Oliver and Arthur. Most people think it is pretty good, but I am my own biggest critic.
So, what "A" words remind you of me?? What are your own "A" words??
