7 Year Itch

Today is my 7 year anniversary. Seven years. Seven. Shouldn't I be on the verge of divorce or separation or something? It seems that very few people these days make it to 7 years without having gone through some serious rocky roads. Not ice cream. I mean hard times. Maybe they should all go eat ice cream. It does clear the mind and put things into perspective.

See, the thing is that I don't see that. I don't see rocky roads ahead. I only see Cherry Garcia and Mint Chocolate Cookie and Half Baked. I see only good things ahead of us. It seems that our life together is just beginning...even 7 years later.

I think that mindset is what makes our marriage work. Yes, we do all the other things that make a marriage work also, but it's the mindset that we're always only just beginning. We have so much life left to live together and we enjoy every minute of it together...even if we're enjoying it by bitching and crying in our beers together. I know. I just said that I enjoy bitching. But isn't that what a friend is? Someone who'll listen to you bitch and then join in with you?

And Chris is my best friend. There is nothing that I keep from him. When we have issues, we talk them out. It sometimes takes me a few days...months...to get around to verbalizing my feelings, but I do. And then we work through it together. Together. There's no "I" in team, people.

We are a team. One of the best teams ever. We'd be an awesome wrestling tag team. When one of us slacks, the other picks up the slack without being asked to...or forced to. And the slacker then realizes that the favor must be returned at a later date. When one of us is drowning, the other jumps in feet first and pulls the other out. It's just how we roll. We got each others' backs, yo.

We do disagree from time to time...alot of time with very little time in between. We have differing view points on a multitude of things, but we always keep in mind what is really important. We have lapses. Everyone does. We forget things but are always quickly reminded by the other. We get mad and we give each other the silent treatment but we apologize...ALWAYS before bed. We get frustrated with one not rinsing the dishes and the other not turning socks right-side-out but we always remember that we both do these things and that it's just not all that important. We are not perfect in the eyes of the many.

But we are perfect in the eyes of the important...the two of us. Chris is perfectly flawed to me. And I am confident that I can say I am perfectly flawed in his eyes.

Seven year itch? Of course. I itch everyday to continue our awesome relationship. I itch to see our future unfold in front of us. I itch for more delicious ice cream...I've never cared for rocky road.

Thank you, Chris, for more than I could ever list. For more than I could ever say or write. There is no worthy Hallmark card. Not even the ones that play music. The only worthy sentiment is straigh from Louis. I love you, Christopher.

It makes a man say damn...

***This probably isn't totally safe to play if you're at a public computer or at work or something. I say "probably" because you really have to listen to the lyrics and be diligent to hear the bad stuff.

I LOVE this song. And I actually had to do some research as to who sings it and what the actual name of the song is. And, as I often am, I was curious about what he's doing these days or where he is...you know, dead? Alive? Still rapping? Bagging groceries? Anyway, his Wikipedia entry is sparse and I've not the energy to search further. He apparently still raps but I suppose it isn't good enough for the radio. BUT...as luck would have it, his 2004 release The Love Never Dies is for sale on Amazon. Hit the link to hear samples of the songs. I must warn you...I listened to some of the samples. And I thought they were Ditty. That should tell you something.

So, listen at your own risk. Especially his new songs.

Mr. Boombastic

Another one from early high school. I can't decide if Bob Marley would be *proud* of this reggae or if he would be super-effin-pissed. I think it's a toss-up, but I'm gonna go with the latter.

I'm a little sad to say that I owned this CD at one time. I actually still like Shaggy...this song just makes me laugh. And laugh. And laugh. And laugh. And laugh. It will forever remind me of my next door neighbor's boyfriend, Alex.

Enjoy!!

Color Me Bad??

No...COLOR ME AWFUL!! And LIVE!!

And let's not beat around the bush..."I wanna sex you up." I'm pretty sure that can only be interpreted in one way. Am I wrong here??

A few things about this song...

* I believe that this song may have been one of the front-runners of my generation (that had lyrics that were NOT up for interpretation) targeting teens to have lots and lots of sex. I am surprised that my friends and I weren't mating like rabbits.

* Or maybe it wasn't aimed at teens. The song does tell us to disconnect our phones. And we all know teenagers don't do that.

* "Tick tock to the heart you don't stop??" WTF?? What does that even mean? I guess we could ask Snow.

* This is the second song I've posted that has been on the Arsenio Hall Show. I'm not sure what that even means, but I'm pretty sure I don't like it.

Happy listening!!

And if I ever...

...hear this song again, I'll still like it. I adore this song. Enjoy!!

(I can't post the actual video. Youtube has disabled embedding. I'm sure it's a legal thing...thanks Metallica for starting all of that legal shit with the internet.)

It's wiggity wiggity wiggity whack!!

This oldie goes out to my girl Laura...

Not only is it an oldie song, but it's on one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE oldie TV shows, In Living Color.

All I have to say is...some of them try to rhyme but they can't rhyme like this. What else needs to be said?

Today's Oldie

Today's song makes me laugh because I used to HATE this song. Probably mostly because it was so overplayed, but I still hated it. And I heard it today and sang along with it...and it's not that bad! You know me, I love an awesomely bad '90's song!!

All you '80's babies enjoy!!

Another Oldie

I heard this gem of a song today on The Oldies Station. This one is even more hilarious than the last one!!

So, I looked up the lyrics to this song because it sounds like he says, "a licky boom boom down" in the chorus. Guess what he really says? "A licky boom boom down." What the hell? What does that even mean?? I guess that's why he only had one song.

The Oldies Station

I like to listen to the radio at work. The problem? My radio is a huge piece of shit and only gets a few stations. One of the stations' that I can actually tune in to has the slogan "We play anything." And they are NOT exaggerating. I've heard so many songs on this station that I haven't heard in ATLEAST 10 years. That's so funny to me...it's like I'm listening to the "oldies" station. And that, my friends, makes me old.

I heard the song below a few days ago and have been singing it in my head ever since. As an old professor of mine would say (my Rock and Roll of the '70's and '80's professor...yes, it was an elective class), "That's a song you can really hang your hat on." You know, a hook?

If you are part of my generation, I HIGHLY recommend that you watch this video. I know a few of you shared my love of this song at one time or another. When I was looking up who sang this song, I learned that the song was released in 1991...18 years ago!!! Holy...yes, it's confirmed. I'm old.

Laugh uncontrollably...

...it clears the mind. (make sure your sound is up.)

Thanks to Holly for the cute little lamb and to Chris for making the funniest lamb noise I've ever heard.

Beerguyver

I went to a 3oth birthday party over the weekend and my friends and I briefly discussed ways to open a beer bottle without a bottle opener. Having an obsessions with all things beer, I decided that this subject needed further research. So I went to Youtube and typed in How To Open A Beer Bottle. Click there for the results. This one is my personal favorite. And now I must go buy a couple cases of Corona and practice. Have a good weekend, all!

Turn it up!!

This video isn't about what you see, it's about what you hear. If you're watching at work, that's okay too...nothing obscene here.

*note: please excuse the scrapbooking mess on the table...

Jayna LOVES Oliver!! Everytime he gets close to her, she smiles and laughs. She likes to pet him and try to chew on him. And he loves her too. He likes to lie by where she's playing or sleeping. And he likes to sniff her which tickles her and makes her laugh.

This makes me smile everytime I watch it...and I watch it atleast once a day. That little laugh makes my days so much brighter!!
